Miraists Participate in Yearly Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Union City

Union City, NJ- A group of Miraists participated in the ceremony of commemoration for the Hispanic Heritage Month, which for the fourth time, is organized by the office of Senator Robert Menendez.

The event was held on Sunday, September 15 at the Union City Performing Arts Center. Over 300 people gathered for this event including important figures of the arts, politics, music and sports world.

Around 30 MIRA USA members represented the organization in this ceremony in which the democratic Senator highlighted the achievements and contributions of the Hispanic community in the United States. 

Singer Frankie Negrón, a New Jersey native, was the key speaker of this event, whose host was Miguel Pozo, director of the National Asociation of Hipanic Lawyers (HNBA).

Ecological Day in Elizabeth, NJ

ELIZABETH, N.J. – Given the need of keeping our environment clean, and with the purpose of bettering the quality of life of all members of society, on Saturday August 24th about 20 Miraists in Elizabeth, NJ performed an ecological day in the city train station. The purpose was to raise awareness to the dwellers of the City of Elizabeth about the importance of maintaining the city clean for everyone.

Celebration of Annual Colombian Independence Festival in Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, N.J. – Attendees who attended the tenth Colombian independence festival held in Elizabeth, New Jersey, experienced enthusiasm and joy. Dozens of Colombians and people from different nationalities came together at Morris Avenue on July 21, to celebrate the Colombian independence along with beautiful musical and cultural performances.

MIRA USA had the opportunity to participate in this exemplary event for the third consecutive time and once again left behind its blue mark with the presence of over fifty Miraists from different cities of the New Jersey state and the spread of our emblematic food.

Seminar on Latest Immigration Information Held in Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, N.J - At a time when Senate advances discussions regarding immigration issues, MIRA USA thought it was pertinent to hold a seminar with an immigration expert to inform the community and prepare them for a possible immigration reform.

The 3-hour event was held at the Community Center on Palmer Street in Elizabeth, N.J. on Sat. May 11.

Immigration lawyer, Moses Apsan, answered attendees' questions regarding change of status, migrant relief as the "visa waiver" and the procedures immigrants should follow when meeting with immigration agents.

About 50 people including representatives of Hope, an organization that fights for workers' rights in the state, attended the seminar which was publicized by local print and television news.
