On Saturday, May 31, 2025, MIRA USA proudly participated in the “Activate Your Alarm, Save a Life” campaign in Paterson, New Jersey. This collaborative effort brought together the Paterson Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the local Fire Department, Police Department, and the American Red Cross.
Despite a chilly and rainy start, 15 MIRA USA volunteers and 7 members of the Red Cross remained steadfast in their commitment to community safety. In just two hours, they successfully enhanced the safety of 44 homes by installing 100 smoke detectors and 36 carbon monoxide detectors, directly benefiting 146 residents.
Beyond the numbers, the event was marked by touching stories that showcased the true spirit of service. Volunteers went door to door, offering free alarm installations and essential fire escape planning tips—even at residences where access was not granted.
One particularly moving story came from a woman who had inherited her home from her late mother. She shared her deep concern about the lack of functional alarms in the aging house, and her heartfelt gratitude for receiving help just in time. “I couldn’t believe someone cared about our safety like this,” she said, visibly moved.
Another couple expressed their sincere appreciation for the presence and dedication of organizations like MIRA USA and the Red Cross, emphasizing how much their community values this outreach.
These stories continue to inspire our mission to create safer, more informed communities. At MIRA USA, we believe that serving others is our purpose—and this event was a powerful reflection of that commitment.
