On March 15, 2025, volunteers from MIRA USA chapters in Elizabeth, Paterson, and Dover joined the American Red Cross for an impactful community event as part of the Home Fire Prevention Campaign, directly benefiting residents in Dover, New Jersey.

Interagency Collaboration

The initiative began at North Dover Elementary School, which served as the staging location for all participating teams. Representatives from the American Red Cross, MIRA USA, the Dover Fire Department, Mayor James Dodd, Councilmember Claudia Toro, additional local government officials, and community volunteers took part in the activity.

Day of Service

The event commenced at 8:45 a.m. with volunteer registration and team coordination. Each team consisted of one American Red Cross volunteer and three MIRA USA volunteers, all of whom had received prior training to ensure a safe and efficient experience. Responsibilities included providing fire-safety education, inspecting existing alarms, and installing new smoke detectors in the homes visited.

Community Impact

Thanks to the dedication of 43 MIRA USA volunteers, the campaign reached 132 homes, installed 106 smoke detectors, and benefited 420 residents. Community feedback highlighted the value of the initiative, with comments such as, “I am completely satisfied with the help” and “You are doing excellent work for the Dover community.”

Volunteer Recognition

To conclude the day, the American Red Cross honored MIRA USA volunteers with a commemorative cake as a gesture of appreciation for their commitment and service. This symbolic moment captured the spirit of collaboration and solidarity that defined the entire effort.
