On Saturday, April 12, as part of the Global Alliance Program between MIRA USA and the American Red Cross, the Houston office of MIRA USA successfully carried out the “Sound the Alarm” initiative, strengthening its efforts to install smoke alarms in high-risk areas of the city.

This intervention focused on a community that, according to 2023 local reports, experiences an alarming rate of residential fires — approximately one fire every three hours, totaling nearly 3,670 incidents annually. In response to these conditions, the initiative prioritized prevention, preparedness, and community education.

Programs such as “Sound the Alarm” have demonstrated significant impact, contributing to a reduction of up to 54% in residential fire incidents through proactive safety measures, proper installation of smoke detectors, and the commitment of trained volunteers.

Through this effort, MIRA USA Houston reaffirms its dedication to community safety, prevention, and public well-being, working alongside strategic partners like the American Red Cross to save lives and build safer, more resilient communities.
