On Saturday, October 18, 2025, MIRA USA’s Paterson and Dover offices successfully hosted their first workshop, “Overcome Your Fear of the U.S. Citizenship Exam,” bringing together 61 participants committed to advancing their naturalization journey with knowledge, confidence, and determination.

The workshop was designed to provide practical tools and essential information to help participants better understand the citizenship process, overcome common fears, and strengthen their overall preparation. Thanks to the dedication of the organizing team and the enthusiasm of our volunteers, the event fostered an enriching environment of collaboration, learning, and collective motivation.

Throughout the session, participants received detailed guidance on completing Form N-400, the foundational application for U.S. citizenship. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, learn best practices for accurately completing the form, and receive personalized support from trained volunteers who tailored their assistance to each individual’s needs.

One of the most impactful components of the workshop was the mock naturalization interview, where participants experienced a realistic interview scenario with immigration officers. This hands-on exercise helped reduce anxiety and significantly strengthened participants’ confidence as they prepare for their upcoming interviews.

The program also included interactive group activities to practice the civics questions required for the citizenship exam, supporting effective memorization of key historical, cultural, and governmental concepts. The day concluded with a mock oath ceremony, allowing participants to understand the meaning and emotional significance of becoming U.S. citizens.

As a result of these comprehensive activities, participants completed the workshop more informed, motivated, and confident to navigate every stage of the naturalization process.
“Walking into a room and meeting someone I didn’t know to conduct the interview made me truly experience what that day will feel like. I was nervous, but the workshop fulfilled its purpose: it removed the fear. Thank you, MIRA USA.” — William Martínez

“I did not pass the exam this time, but this practice motivates me to prepare more seriously and with greater determination for my interview day.” — David Rubio

“I had a great experience. I still have many questions, but I am very glad I attended. I hope you continue organizing more workshops like this.” — Jesús Ocampo

The event concluded with a strong sense of community and shared purpose. The Paterson and Dover teams extend their sincere appreciation to all participants and volunteers, and reaffirm MIRA USA’s commitment to continuing to support immigrant communities at every step of their path toward U.S. citizenship.
