While in a room, a group of people received information by USCIS Agent Doris Rodriguez about the naturalization process, eligibility requirements, filing the application, interview, oath, and ceremony. In the other room participants who had already submitted their application studied the questions on the N-400 form with bilingual volunteers and practiced the 100 civic questions in English.
This time, all participants had the opportunity to ask their questions individually to both the Immigration Agent and Attorney Jorge Rivera, in a new section that was implemented for participants to solve their concerns.
After taking the break, Seven MIRA USA volunteers acting as Immigration Agents began to call each of the participants to do the mock interview. Some people were nervous and even preferred not to drink coffee or water due to the fear they felt. And because the purpose of this workshop was to get the participants to lose their fear, the interviewers spoke to them entirely in English and could detect the weaknesses and strengths of each one and at the end of the interview gave some recommendations to be successful in the real interview.
After the interviews were over, the oath was performed, and the national anthem was sung to close the workshop, which pretends to be an exact simulation of the naturalization process. Between gratitude and smiles, we concluded the last citizenship workshop of the year that was a great help to our immigrant community in Tampa Bay.
