MIRA USA Is Present at the Colombian Parade
Elizabeth, NJ- The arrival of the month of July brings the festivities commemorating Colombia’s Independence Day. The streets of this city of New Jersey were filled with color, dance, and music during “Elizabeth’s Colombian Parade,” which attracted hundreds of spectators. The parade was attended by special guest Jorge Menses, the only mayor of Colombian origin in the United States, elected in the town of Hackensack. Gladys Cifuentes, the state’s general consul of Colombia, Jaime Buenahora, representative of Colombians abroad, mayor of Elizabeth Chris Bollwage, and mayor of Passaic Alex Blanco were all part of the illustrious guest list as well.

The “blue team” which MIRA USA has become known as, was greeted by Mayor Bollwage, who expressed his gratitude for the work MIRA USA has performed in Elizabeth. Miraist leader, Jorge Munoz, was invited as a special guest among other local figures.
The heat of July 1st did not keep the community from enjoying the show put together by delegations from Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. Businesses from the area also supported and participated in the parade in order to demonstrate that the “coffee” country spreads throughout the planet.
Miraists in the audience participated and cheered on the groups that made part of the parade which was organized by the “Colombians Without Borders” institution.
In an act of recognition to the area’s commercial sector which he officially named the “Colombian District,” the mayor of Elizabeth presented a plaque that would be placed at the street entrances to areas where the Colombian businesses operate.
