Washington, D.C. – In an evening of folk, Miraists of Maryland and Virginia gathered at the Organization of American States, also known as OAS, to proudly celebrate 203 years of the independence of Colombia.

This historic event had two important figures of the Colombian political scene in the United States. Ambassador of Colombia in Washington, Carlos Urrutia and first African descent consul of Colombia in Washington, Libya Mosquera, who has stood out by her excellent work.
During the event a sample of the famous ‘Carnival de Barranquilla’ was presented through various dances during a segment that was called “A Taste of Carnival”.
