POTOMAC, Md. – More than three hundred people gathered on July 20, at the first cultural festival “Colombia with you”, organized by MIRA USA to commemorate the independence of Colombia, through gastronomy samples and the folklore that characterizes the South American country.
Although it was a very international crowd, everyone was united by their admiration for the Colombian culture, as well as for MIRA USA’s continuous nationwide social work.
Everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon, thanks to Martha Chari and her band Los Tayronas, and Hernan Orbes, who decorated the event with typical music from Colombia.
Among the special guests were Julian Hoyos, president of the Colombian Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., and Alejandro Bravo, director of the Radio 700AM.
In addition to all the music and gastronomy samples, craft exhibitions were carryout including the largest “Volteao’ ” hat in the United States. The children in attendance also enjoyed Colombian style face-painting.
