Houston TX – On Saturday, November 23, the workshop “Lose the Fear of taking the Citizenship Test” was held in Houston TX, where more than 130 permanent residents received the necessary tools to prepare for the naturalization interview. This workshop took place at PlazAmericas 201 Sharpstown Center Houston TX, 77036 Suite B02.
The workshop began with an introductory talk as well as the itinerary, followed up by the presentation of an official Immigration Officer. The USCIS officer of Houston TX gave a detailed presentation of the naturalization process and answered questions from the attendees. Once completed, practice simulations were carried out by working in separate groups.
We also shared with the presence of an Immigration lawyer from Law Offices of Herrera & Associates, PLLC who answered questions and concerns from the attendees.
The workshop covered fundamental topics such as: knowing what to expect on the day of the interview, review of the questions on Form N-400 and the One Hundred Civics (History and Government) questions. Mira USA Volunteers acted as Immigration Officials.
Once the review and groupwork were completed, we then proceeded with the mock interview individually with each person, allowing the experience to be as real as possible in regards to what it would be like to be in front of an immigration officer during the final interview.
At the end of the workshop, each person was given a score that helped identify flaws that can be improved for the day in which they will appear at the real interview. The mock interview was a great help being that after its completion, it identified and helped answer the concerns and fears that the attendees had, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the terminology and process that could be presented on that day, in addition to allowing them to confidently be able to respond the best possible way before the Immigration Official who will interview them.
The workshop was held from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, in which persons from different areas of the city participated and benefited from this event.
