Ecological Cleanup in Charlotte
Charlotte, NC – On a sunny morning, a group of adult, young and child Miraistas put on their blue T-shirts to participate in what was an environmental summer day last Saturday, July 25.
The Miraistas collected garbage and recyclables in a stretch of 1 mile on Johnson Road, a busy road located in the South of the city. Motivated by the honking of support from by-passing motorists, participants managed to collect several bags of garbage containing from tin cans, glass, cardboard, metal, to even plastic cups and paper that drivers and pedestrians litter on the road.
This effort continues as part of the commitment to the City of Charlotte of cleaning a section of the road that MIRA USA adopted in 2013, and it was a two-hour long ecological activity which is part of the municipal program called “Adopt-a-Street “.
