here <\/a>to see pictures of the event<\/p>\nNot only did the miraists picked up litter at the river\u2019s banks, but also cleaned up and removed invasive weeds in areas not yet open to the public.<\/p>\n
Thanks to this cleanup effort, the planting of native trees will initiate in this area of the park. The park will function as a botanical garden in the near future. This will benefit students, families, neighbors and ecological tourists visiting the city.<\/p>\n
At the end of the cleanup day Miami Mayor, Tomas Regalado, paid a surprise visit to the volunteers to recognize their accomplishments in the improvement of the environment in the areas neighboring the river. He highlighted the importance of the miraists’ work supporting the integral development of this large city.<\/p>\n
Mayor Regalado also declared the weekend as \u201cThe Weekend of the 1st Mother Ocean Day Celebration,\u201d and also as \u201cThe Miami Coasts\u2019 Weekend,\u201d commemorating five hundred years since the discovery of the Florida coasts with a plaque.<\/p>\n
This event was done in conjunction with the Miami River Commission, and also with volunteers of the Miami Kayak Club and The Paddle House, which joined with WNF Law P.L. and Race South Florida to give a plaque of recognition to MIRA USA, which was handed over by Mayor Regalado.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
