{"id":7801,"date":"2019-06-07T13:33:51","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T17:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mirausa.net\/?p=7801"},"modified":"2025-03-11T20:59:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T01:59:06","slug":"dozens-of-immigrants-prepare-to-become-citizens-and-lose-their-fear-of-the-citizenship-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mirausa.net\/?p=7801&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Dozens of\u00a0immigrants prepare to become citizens and lose their fear of the citizenship test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7802\" src=\"https:\/\/mirausa.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/CH8-1-300x110.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"110\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charlotte, NC \u2013<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dozens of people learned about the process to become US citizens in the workshop: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Lose the fear of citizenship test with MIRA USA&#8221; that was held at the Morrison Regional Library in Charlotte on Saturday, June 1st <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop began with an introduction by Carolina Cortez, Director of the MIRA USA in Charlotte and a short video where the organization was presented with the objective of helping others. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop was officiated by the bilingual officer of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Helen Infante who, in her presentation, covered topics such: the requirements to be able to apply for citizenship, applying for naturalization, the personal interview, the swearing ceremony, and available resources. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It is important that you know that you should not be afraid. We are here to help you, don&#8217;t be afraid to ask us questions, and if someone mistreats you during the citizenship process], ask for a supervisor&#8221; Daniel Knutson, USCIS Official of Community Relations, who was also present at the workshop, emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Officer Infante explained the requirements of age, residency, physical presence in the country, and that the person must have good moral character, which is one of the most important requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To see images of the event, Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mirausa\/albums\/72157708976424313\">Here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the presentation there was a segment for questions from the attendees, which the Infante officer answered in order to clear doubts and concerns. At the end of the event, the officer performed a simulation of the complete citizenship test with a participant, in which she explained in detail several of the questions and the correct way to respond.
