baena-kojo-naacpCharlotte, NC – Seeking to move forward in his fight against racism and discrimination, Colombian Senator Carlos Alberto Baena, while on a visit to the Queen City, was able establish relationships the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The President of the MIRA political party was in Charlotte during the first week of September as a guest in the Democratic National Convention, more specifically in the International Leaders Forum, which was conducted in the aforementioned city.

The Senator held a meeting with Kojo Nantambu, local director of the NAACP, the national organization with the oldest history in the Civil Rights of the African-American community.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged ideas and talked about the particularities of the fight against this social scourge that affect members of these minorities in both countries.

Senator Baena has led these topics in Colombia and is the author and promoter of the Law against racism and discrimination, which was approved by the Colombian Congress last year.

The encounter allowed the establishment of mutual support of both organizations, and to open a broader door to increase the knowledge and tools MIRA can use against the discrimination based on race, nationality, sex and sexual orientation.

At the end of the gathering, Nantambu gave Senator Baena a NAACP official pin, as a material expression of his unconditional support to Baena and MIRA.
