Queens, NY – The An Angel in Queens Foundation, that has delivered hot home-made meals to day laborers and those in need from the Queens, New York area every single night since 2004, has been selected by Chase bank to compete with charities nation wide to receive between USD$125K up to USD$1 million in donations, depending on the number of votes each organization receives through the American Giving Awards on Facebook. Polls open on November 27th, 2012 at 12:00 a.m. ET and close on December 4th, 2012 at 11:59:59 a.m. ET

Twenty-five past Chase Community Giving grant recipients—5 charities in 5 different categories—have been chosen to participate in the American Giving Awards, presented by Chase. The 5 charity categories are as follows: 1.) Educators & Mentors; 2.) Champions of Health & Wellness; 3.) Heroes & Leaders; 4.) Community Builders; and 5.) Youth Developers.

For Jorge Munoz, president and founder, “while the money is essential for us to continue our mission, the most important thing is the support I have seen from our community and knowing that you are not really doing it for neither for Jorge Munoz nor the foundation as such, but for the guys to whom we give a hot meal each night.”

Of these five charities, the charity with the most votes in their respective category will receive $1 million, the runner up will receive $500,000, the 3rd place charity will receive $250,000, and the 4th and 5th place charities will each receive $125,000 grants.

Your vote can help Jorge Munoz – awarded as CNN Hero in 2009 and recipient of the Citizens Medal bestowed by President Barack Obama in 2010 by his tireless work to help those in need – to not only continue his mission, through which he has delivered over 100K meals, but to continue growing.
