Philadelphia, Pennsylvania- As part of its concern for the community’s wellbeing, MIRA USA offered a seminar to inform community members about city resources through which they could make their needs known, obtain legal assistance and access services specifically offered to the Hispanic population. Among these means of communications was the 311 telephone line which residents could use to make a variety of requests. Rocio Perez, a special assistant from the office of Philadelphia Councilman David Oh, attended the seminar as a guest speaker.
The seminar regarding community, civics and laws aimed to educate the immigrant community because as residents of the United States, it is necessary for each person to be fully informed of the norms and procedures established by the government so that the community’s needs are made known and met.
During the event, participants were also able to learn about community and social leader, Jorge Munoz’s inspiring work which shows how it just takes a good and caring heart to make a difference.
MIRA USA’s next event in the city of Philadelphia will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2012. For more information please email philly@mirausa.net
