The caravan started on Flagler Street and 29th Avenue and continued on the busy street heading toward where the offices of the Republican Senator Marco Rubio and the Republican Representative of the 25th District of the U.S. House of representatives, Mario Díaz-Balart are located.
The sound of the slogans and the horns of the vehicles throughout the course of the caravan moved other drivers and pedestrians to clap or beep their horns in support.
When the demonstrators arrived to the offices of the representatives, they were not intimidated by the heavy rain and made their voice heard in support for the bill which would benefit more than 11 millions of undocumented immigrants.
Even though internationally the 1st of May is celebrated as Labor Day, in the U.S. it has become customary to hold demonstrations demanding guaranteed rights for the immigrants.
The bill to reform the U.S. Immigration System was presented by the so called “Gang of Eight” in the middle of April and it is actually being submitted at the U.S. Congress.
According to official polls, there are at least eleven millions of immigrants which contributed with more than 11 billions in taxes to the country; the reason why important characters of the U.S. political scene have expressed that a comprehensive immigration reform would have a major and positive impact in all the circles of the country.
